my brother has something mental going on but we dont know how to help him. he is not sleeping (afraid they something will harm him in his sleep), he wont eat (afraid that his food is poisoned), he has been hearing voices and acting on them, he says he can see things when he does manage to sleep. this has my family worried and we do not know what to do to help him out. any advice would be great.

Dependent upon age, he should be seen by your primary care physician (pediatrician, family physician or internist). While a mental disorder is your concern, there are also various other diseases and disorders that can create similar symptoms. Good luck.
