Psychological evaluation of medical patients, trauma victims, medically disabled individuals and injured workers

The goal of any psychological evaluation:
  • to accurately diagnose the patient
  • to understand the variables that may be interfering with the patient's psychological recovery
  • to determine if there are psychological factors affecting a medical condition
  • to coordinate care, when appropriate, with the patient's primary care physician or patient's surgeon
  • to recommend the appropriate course of treatment most likely to lead to improvement and resolution
  • to evaluate the efficacy and appropriateness of current care

These data must be combined with meticulous review of medical records, a careful and complete clinical history and an observation of the patient and his/her strengths and limitations.

A report must be complete, concise and targeted to maximize understanding and treatment/management of the patient.
